Postgraduate Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries



Description:

The scholarship program is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or the least developed countries (LDCs), the postgraduate education / study leading to a doctoral degree at a center of excellence in developing countries outside their own country exert want.

An applicant who wishes to register as a doctoral student at their home institution can choose a sandwich option, wherein a part of the research program is undertaken at a host institution in another developing country. Alternatively, enroll as a full-time research student an applicant in an institution outside their country.

Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Kiribati, Laos, people's Democratic Republic, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Rwanda, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Timor-Leste, Togo , Tuvalu, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Vanuatu, Yemen and Zambia.

Note: Sub-Saharan African countries that are not in the list, are under the program into consideration.

Scholarship value / inclusions:

Each community will be offered for three years and travel expenses, cover a modest monthly housing allowance, the amount of which will be determined by the host institution in consultation.

ELIGIBILITY OF STUDENTS:

• The scholarships are open to qualified young women science graduates (usually under 40) from countries in sub-Saharan Africa and / or LDCs.

• The minimum qualifications of candidates is a M.Sc. Degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding B.Sc. Honorary degree in the natural sciences.

• Following recent discussions with donors, earlier restrictions that eligible research projects that were dropped restricted in the basic sciences. Therefore, applications can now be accepted by scientists in all fields of science.

• Candidates already on site in the host country not eligible.

• The host institution in which the applicant wishes to pursue her doctoral degree must be in a developing country other than their own.

• The applicant must be willing to return to their country after completion of the scholarship.

Application notes:

Applicants are encouraged to apply for postgraduate entry into their chosen host institution in advance. To this end, it is recommended that applicants to mention the chosen host institution in connection (s) with the CV and brief research proposal that they intend to apply for a TWOWS Community. If the application on TWOWS submission but it is not mandatory that the applicant either applied and / or received approval at the host institute.
