Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS)


Description:

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) was created to attract world-class doctoral students and maintain and create Canada as a global center of excellence in research and learning. The grants are for a doctorate (or combined MA / PhD or MD / PhD).

Institution (s):

Canadian universities with Vanier CGS allocation. Without exception, the Vanier CGS is only acceptable to the eligible Canadian institution that the nomination submitted.

Field of study:

PhD programs (or combined MA / PhD or MD / PhD) in health research; Science and / or engineering research; and social sciences and / or humanities

Number of Scholarships:

Up to 167 scholarships are awarded annually

Group:

Canadian citizens with permanent residence in Canada and foreign citizens who are nominated entitled to a Vanier CGS.

Scholarship value / duration:

The grants worth $ 50,000 per year for three years.

Eligibility of Students:

To be pulled for a Vanier CGS into account, you must:

• be nominated only by a Canadian university who have received allotment a Vanier CGS;

• will pursue your first promotion (including joint undergraduate / graduate research program such as: MD / PhD, DVM / PhD, JD / PhD - if it is put to a demonstrated and significant research component). Note that only the part of a combined PhD degree is eligible;

• intend to pursue, in the summer semester or the academic year following the announcement of the results, full-time graduate students (or combined MA / PhD or MD / PhD) studies and research at the University nominate; Note that only the part of a combined PhD degree is eligible;

• have completed no more than 20 months of dissertation 1 May 2017;

• have achieved a first-class average, as determined by your university, in each of the last two years full-time study or equivalent. Applicants are encouraged to contact the University for its definition of a first-class average; and

• have not already received to undertake a doctoral-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC or complete a doctorate.

Instructions:

Candidates must be nominated by a Canadian institution with a rate at which they want to study. Candidates can not apply directly to the Vanier CGS program itself.

Applications are triggered in one of two ways. Either the student informs the faculty of studies at the chosen institution of its intention to Vanier CGS program or the institution derives apply the nomination process, by contacting the desired candidate.

Applications will be prepared by the students and submitted to the nominating institution through their internal deadline with the ResearchNet application system. The nominating institution then recommended to forward nominations for Vanier-Banting Secretariat (Secretariat) of 2 November 2016.
